NHS competition.

Competition to produce artwork along the theme of "art meets science". Did this quite a while ago but forgot to upload it..
Thinking of doing something along the same lines for my One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest cover.

Negociated project

Deciding what I want to draw for the next few months was a pretty tough decision. I recently started an online roller derby zine called sassqautch with on of my team mates and so decided I would kill two brids with one stone and do some drawings for sassqautch that would also make up my negociated project.
I wanted each drawing to be a funny take on a name of a drill, a common joke, to pick up on of the many quirks of roller derby.
So, my work recently has many been a lot of doodling and working out what I want to do, which ideas work and make sense. They're probably not going to make a whole lot of sense but here are some of my sketches so far...

Finished 'HE"

Kurt Schwitters. He.

We were given a Kurt Schwitters story to work with. I was given He. Its about a really tall man.
This is the progression of my ideas, from an initial (very) rough sketch to an almost (possibly) finished piece.

To be continued..

page roughs

The next part of the sam project was to design a double page from the book containing one sentence. The sentence i was given was "ate the lot". I immediately thought of cake and birthday cake. I thought it would be more fun to draw.
I was thinking of fun and interesting ways to work in the text to my illustration.

Sam

The latest brief is a children's book.
The first part was to design the main character.
The only constraints being it must be called Sam, it must be wearing red converse boots and it must be wearing a particular striped tshirt.
Let the doodling commence...

An obsession

They tell you when you first start roller derby that it going to take over your life and it becomes an obsession. well... they were right. I now seem to draw roller girls, skates, and anything derby related all the time. When asked to create characters for a uni project one of them HAD to be a roller girl.
